The Cake Mama Cowboy Cake

We made this cake and it is so delicious, simple, and the texture is just perfect. Very basic ingredients: brown sugar, flour, buttermilk, and a few other ingredients are the foundation of this recipe. The brown sugar makes a superb texture with the flour and buttermilk. You make this in a square or a round pan, lightly greased.

Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening until crumbly. Reserve l/2 cup. To remaining crumbs add baking powder, soda, and spices. Mix well. Add milk and eggs. Mix well. Pour into a 9 x 13 greased and floured pan. Top with reserved crumbs. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.
