After a few years of struggling, Galion was able to successfully open their newest addition to their East Park, an interactive aquatic playground referred to as Splash Park. Since the pool that used to be in East Park had been removed, the city tried to get the idea up and running a few years back, but luck just didn't seem to be in their favor.

Press release. Operating hours for the Galion Splash Park will be reduced beginning Wednesday, Aug. 24. The new hours during weekdays will be 3:30-7 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, it will be open from 12-5 p.m. The Splash Park will also be open from 12-5 on Labor Day (Sept. 4), which will be the last day of operation this season.

The venues will open for the 2020 season on Saturday, June 6th. Pool hours are Monday through Friday from 1 PM-7 PM, and weekends from 1 PM-5 PM.

There is no fee to use Splash Park, except for private rentals or parties. You can rent the facility on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 7-9 p.m., for $100. Call the municipal building for more information. Also, on the Memorial Day weekend is a cruise-in and truck and car show at Galion DQ on Portland Way North (Ohio 598).

The splash park is open from 1 to 7 p.m. seven days a week. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Wildenthaler said officials had to re-think all policies and procedures related to the pool. Since the State of Ohio lifted restrictions on June 2, life at the pool is expected to return to normal this summer.
